Titans Drop Home Opener to #6 Ranked Tritons

The Titans opened their 2024 season at home under new head coach Keri Green against the Edmonds Tritons. Edmonds came into today's matchup ranked #6 in the Preseason NWAC Coaches Poll, proving to be a significant early season test for the Titans.

The Titans held strong in the first set, tied 18-18, until a 5-0 run for the Tritons put the set out reach, taking it 25-20.

The Titans started the second set strong, jumping out to a 7-3 advantage, but the Tritons responded with a 4-0 run to even it up. The teams traded points the rest of the set. The Titans worked their way to a 21-20 lead before a crucial 3-0 run by Edmonds put them in position to take the set 25-22.

The teams once again traded blows for most of the third set. The Titans found themselves down 22-20 but rattled off a clutch 5-0 run to win the set 25-22.

Down 2-1 heading into the fourth set, the Titans seemed to run out of gas and Edmonds started to pull away, jumping out to an 18-10 lead. The Titans fought to stay alive in the match, knocking the deficit down to 4 at 20-16, but the Tritons were able to finish off with the win 25-19, taking the match 3-1.

The Titans next match will be at Treasure Valley Community College for the NWAC Crossover Event September 13th-14th.
