On a night where most eyes were glued across town, the Titans made some magic of their own.
The Lane Women's Soccer team came into tonight's matchup with a 4-3-1 league record and something to prove. They sat 4 points down to Rogue for first place in the Southern Region, but their focus remained on their opponents from Southwestern Oregon.
That focus paid off in the 34th minute with a goal from Lilly Sundstrom, her first of the season, off of an assist from Haley Holbrook.
What followed this goal was an unprecented string of scoring for the Titans, as they proceeded to score three more goals in the next 7 minutes to take a 4-0 lead into halftime.
Haley Holbrook scored the second goal in the 36th minute.
Not long after, Sarah Money found the back of the net coming off of a free kick from Mary Frances Sluga in the 38th minute.
In the 41st minute, a cluster inside the box ended with Kimberly Gomez finding a hole and scoring once more before halftime.
The Titans, normally known for their defense, have yet to score more than two goals in a match this season. They doubled that number in the first half.
They were not finished, however, as Brianna Vidali-Rood scored one last goal of her own in the 88th minute to put the finishing touches on a brilliant team performance.
Lane is now tied for second place in the South with 16 points. They take on the Clackamas Cougars on the road on Wednesday, October 16th.
