
The Lane Titans Women's Soccer team picked up a huge Southern Region victory Wednesday afternoon against the Portland Panthers.
The Titans and the Panthers were almost even in the standings. Lane sat at 3-3 entering today's match and Portland sat at 3-2-1.
In a pivotal game in the standings, the Titans took control early as Sarah Money connected on a goal in the 2nd minute off of an assist from Jillian Goggins. The Titans took a 1-0 lead in the blink of an eye.
The Panthers did not back down, however, and answered in the 9th minute with a goal from Karly Murray.
In the 20th minute, Sarah Money won a footrace with her defender and scored again, taking the lead back 2-1.
The Panthers struggled for more opportunities to score as the Titan defense held strong and came away with the win.
This puts the Titans at 4-3 in conference play on the season and 5-4 overall. They now hold the 2nd place spot in the Southern Region with 12 points.
Their next match is against the 1st place Rogue Ospreys next Wednesday in Grant's Pass.
