The Lane Titans Women's Basketball team capped off an undefeated regular season with a dominant win over rival Umpqua in Roseburg on Wednesday night.
The Titans came into the game with a record of 28-0 and sole place of first place in the NWAC Southern Region.
Umpqua came into the game at 26-1, with their only loss on the season coming against Lane earlier in the season.
The winner between the two would go on to hold the number 1 seed in the upcoming NWAC Tournament.
In front of a completely packed Roseburg crowd, the Titans jumped on the Riverhawks early and never looked back.
A trio of threes from Maitlin Young, Kya Kanoho and Emma McDonald gave the Titans an early 11-2 lead four minutes into the first quarter.
The Titans continued to pour it on in the first, with another Kanoho three pushing the lead to 29-11 with a minute to go in the first.
Trouble loomed for the Titans, however, as Micah Wicks picked up her second foul late in the first quarter and was forced to sit for an extended amount of time.
Umpqua responded in the second with quick buckets from reigning NWAC Player of the Year Brooklyn Fely, but the Titans had an answer for every Riverhawk run.
Kanoho responded once again with eight straight points, pushing the lead to 22 points, the largest of the game thus far.
Umpqua continued to fight on the back of Fely, but could not close the gap.
The Titans offense kept the Riverhawks at bay, and an untimely offensive foul followed by a technical foul by Fely halted momentum for Umpqua and gave her three first half fouls.
Foul trouble hurt both teams in the first half, as both Micah Wicks and Kya Kanoho picked up their third fouls late in the half, with Lillee Duffin also sitting with two fouls.
The Titans went into halftime with a 17 point lead.
Kya Kanono led the team in the first half with 14 points, with Emma McDonald also in double figures with 10.
The Riverhawks struck first coming out of the locker room, trimming the lead to 15 and hoping to mount a comeback in front of a spirited crowd.
The Titans continued to respond, however, as another mini run by McDonald pushed the lead back up to 22 with six minutes to go in the third quarter.
A three by the Riverhawks deadeye shooter Rebekah Beltran cut the lead back under 20, but back-to-back threes by Kanoho and Young gave the Titans their largest lead of the game at 63-38.
Multiple late shot clock baskets by the Titans gave them a commanding 70-46 lead going into the 4th quarter.
The Riverhawks would continue to battle throughout the 4th but the Titans offense once again quelled any run they could make.
The Titans ended up taking the game 83-63 and secured another outright Southern Region Championship, as well as the number one seed in the NWAC Tournament.
Emma McDonald led the way with 22 points and 11 rebounds, her first career double-double.
Kya Kanoho also finished with one her best games in a Titan uniform with 19 points on 4-6 shooting from three, as well as 5 rebounds.
Maitlin Young poured in 19 points.
Lillee Duffin also finished with a complete game of 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Titans will travel to Pasco, Washington this week to defend their back-to-back titles at the NWAC Tournament.
Their first opponent will be the Bellevue College Bulldogs from the North Region.
They will play on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
