
The Lane Titans Women's Basketball team clinch their 5th straight NWAC Southern Region Championship with a win over Clackamas on Saturday afternoon.
On a day honoring five graduating sophomores (Emma McDonald, Micah Wicks, Brooklyn Moody, Kya Kanoho, Lillee Duffin), the Titans dominated a formidable Clackamas squad.
The Titans clinch at least a share of the region title and will have a chance to win it outright on Wednesday against second place Umpqua.
Lane fell in to an 8-4 hole early before finding their footing and taking a 10-8 lead off of back to back threes from Emma McDonald and Kya Kanoho.
A late bucket from Brittea Byrge gave the Titans a 20-16 lead after the first quarter.
Another set of back to back threes, this time from Kanoho and Micah Wicks, gave the Titans a 10 point lead, their largest of the game at the time.
The Titans maintained control and went into halftime with a 44-29 lead.
Hot shooting was the difference for the Titans, who shot 8-13 from three in the first half.
Kya Kanoho led the way with 17 points, with Micah Wicks following close behind with 14.
The game got away from the Cougars quickly in the third quarter, as the lead ballooned to 25 points midway through the third quarter.
The Titans maintained control of the game, with the lead getting up to as much as 38 before taking the game 77-41.
Micah Wicks led the way in scoring with 21 points, with Kya Kanoho right behind her at 20 points.
The Titans will travel down to Roseburg on Wednesday to determine their seeding for the NWAC Tournament in a game against the Umpqua Riverhawks.
