
The Lane Titans Women's Basketball team opened up conference play with an 81-49 win over the Clark Penguins Saturday afternoon.
The Titans, coming in at 13-0 on the season, were ranked #1 in the NWAC Coaches poll, while Clark entered the game ranked #7.
Clark was coming off of a massive home win over #4 Walla Walla, and were looking to carry that momentum into another potential upset.
The Titans were looking to grab an early advantage in the Southern Region standings against a potential playoff contender.
The game started with an early Titan run, taking a 13-2 lead before Clark managed to find their footing.
Lane took a 25-14 advantage into the second quarter.
Shooting cooled off a bit in the second quarter, and a handful of turnovers kept the game within reach for the Penguins, but the Titans still led 40-24 at half.
Emma McDonald exploded for 21 points in the first half.
Lane kept their momentum in the second half and ended up taking the game 81-49.
Emma McDonald finished with a game high 26 points, while Micah Wicks notched her second career triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists.
Other starters Maitlin Young and Kya Kanoho both dropped 12 points each, while Lillee Duffin put in a commplete performance with 9 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks.
This win is a great start to conference play for the Titans, who are looking to win their 5th straight NWAC Southern Region Championship.
The Titans will head to Albany next week for a Wednesday matchup against Linn-Benton.
