The Lane Titans started off their 2024-25 season with a home win over the 10th ranked Treasure Valley Chukars Friday night in the annual Titan Classic Tournament.
The Titans and the Chukars met in the first round of the NWAC Tournament last season, as the 4th seeded Chukars gave the 1st seeded Titans all they could handle in a narrow 59-49 Titan victory.
This season, the number 1 ranked Titan team did not let Treasure Valley hang around.
A breakneck paced first quarter found the Titans up big early with a 36-20 lead, with sophomore Emma McDonald leading the way with 13 points on 3 made three-pointers, and Micah Wicks dishing out 6 early assists.
The scoring slowed down for the Titans, as they went into halftime with a 56-37 lead.
Coming out of halftime the Titans continued to build their lead, taking a commanding 26 point lead into the fourth quarter.
The game ended with a final score of 88-62, as the Titans begin their quest for a third straight NWAC Championship with a bang over a quality opponent.
Micah Wicks led the way in scoring and notched her first career triple-double with 22 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds.
Emma McDonald matched Wicks scoring output with 22 points of her own with 5 made threes.
Sophomore Lillee Duffin also finished with a 16 point 14 rebound double-double in the win.
The Titans will host Pierce College tomorrow at 4 PM on day 2 of the annual Titan Classic.
