Titans Win Overtime Thriller 92-90 Against Peninsula on Coleman’s Game-Winning Layup

PASCO, Wash. – The Lane Titans won a thrilling overtime victory 92-90 over Peninsula to advance to the finals at the NWAC Women's Basketball Championship, presented by Sun Pacific Energy, on Saturday at Holden Court.

With just six seconds remaining, the Titans (31-1, 15-1 South) drew up the game winning play as they setup Toni Coleman on the inbounds pass and a lane to the net as she finished with the layup with three seconds to play. The Titans held off Peninsula's half court shot to win and advance to the finals.

Peninsula (22-5, 12-2 North) played an outstanding game and hit clutch shuts down the stretch to force overtime and keep the score tied in overtime. Down by three, Chasity Selden knocked down all three free throws after drawing a shooting foul with 6.3 seconds to play, forcing Lane to hit their eventual game-winning shot. At the end of regulation, Adam Kaganak hit the game-tying three pointer with just over three seconds left to force overtime.

A game featuring the top two teams in the NWAC Coaches' Poll was one of the best games of the entire tournament as there were 14 lead changes and 13 tie scores. Both teams left everything they had out on the court.

The Titans were led overall by Coleman, who finished with 26 points, four assists and four rebounds. She knocked down 8-of-11 free throws. Chloe Daniels had a big double-double of 20 points 15 rebounds with five blocks. Bella Hamel had 19 points, 13 rebounds and four steals and Sierra Scheppele had 15 points on four made three pointers.

The Pirates had five players in double-digit scoring, led by Selden who came off the bench to score 25 points. Emilia Long had 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Jenilee Donovan had 15 points, Ituau Tuisaula posted 14 points and 15 rebounds and Kaganak also had 14 points. Tati Kamae finished with seven points and 13 boards.

The Titans advance to the finals, taking on Green River on Sunday at 2 p.m. on Holden Court.
