Title: Sprints Coach

Jeff started competing in track and field at the age of 9 where he was introduced to the
Pentathlon by his Grade School PE teacher (Bob Leach) Then started with Track City
Track Club, the first Eugene Youth Track Club (1975). Jeff attended Sheldon High
School where he participated in Track and Field and Football. In 1984 he competed with
Junior National Team in Tokyo, Hong Kong and China. Then went on to University of
Oregon on an athletic scholarship (1984-1989). Career was cut short due to some
hamstring injuries.
Jeff emerged as a youth coach with Track City Track Club from 1994-2002 where he
served as head coach the last 4 years. He then founded Emerald City Track Club in
2002 where he served as head coach until 2016.
Jeff has coached 245 All-Americans during his time with youth track and field. Also, he
has been a high school track and field coach for over 20 years as an assistant coach at
Sheldon High School for 12 years and head coach at South Eugene High School from
2008-2017. Also, coached at Lane Community College (2019 – 2021). Along with all of
his other coaching duties he also coaches International Athletes.
Jeff was the Region 13 Coordinator with USATF and has been the Youth Vice Chair for
USATF of Oregon (14 years). He served on the USATF National Youth Committee ( 3
years). His other passions include fly fishing, skiing, camping and enthusiasm to help
youth athletes maximize their talents.
