The Lane Men's Soccer team lost their first round playoff game to the Tacoma Titans Wednesday night.

Lane, who finished 2nd in the NWAC Southern Region, earned the right to host a first round playoff game.

They were matched against a familiar foe, the Tacoma Community College Titans, who had beaten the Lane Titans 5-1 earlier this season.

Head Coach Ty Ohrtman's crew was ready for the rematch, however, and it was clear from kickoff that this match would be far more competitive.

Lane missed two opportunities to score early to take a lead, and Tacoma captitlized with a goal in the 21st minute by Koren Anderson to take a 1-0 lead.

Tacoma scored again, this time scored by Taylor Pierce in the 37th minute, and the lead was 2-0.

Things were looking bleak for the hosting Titans but a solo goal by Papa Yansane off of a free kick in the 42nd minute gave them life heading into halftime.

Down 2-1 coming out of the break, Lane was desperate to score but could not find the back of the net.

Finally, in the 82nd minute, an incredible goal from Jonathan Colunga tied the match up at 2-2.

After two scoreless overtime periods, the entire season for both teams came down to penalty kicks.

Lane kicked first, and a blocked kick from Griffin Rea put the Titans in a hole early.

Four straight makes by both teams followed, and the season came down to one kick by Tacoma's Yanni Montes De Oca who was able to convert, sending Tacoma on to the next round of the NWAC Tournament.

Tacoma will take on Peninsula in the next round, while Lane's season has concluded.

The Titans finish the season with a record of 8-5-2 and a 2nd place finish in the Southern Region.
