The Lane Titans Men's Basketball team dropped a home game to the Linn-Benton Roadrunners Wednesday night.
This was the 5th straight game for the Titans that was either decided by one possession or in overtime.
They won the first three of such games but have now lost two in a row after losing in overtime against Clark Saturday afternoon.
This loss puts the Titans at 6-4 in Southern Region play and are sitting alone in 4th place.
With six games remaining in the regular season, the upcoming stretch of games will prove to be crucial for the Titans playoff hopes.
The Titans jumped out to an 8 point lead midway through the first half but were unable to maintain momentum as Linn-Benton trimmed the lead to 2 going into the break.
Both teams went back and forth the rest of the game, with neither team able to gain separation by more than one possession.
Free throws proved to be the difference, as the Roadrunners converted 21-23 free throws and were able to seal the game at the line with a final of 89-86.
Lawson Vella led the Titans in scoring with 18 points.
Ben Thornbrue finished with 17 points and 8 rebounds.
The Titans will travel to Portland on Saturday to take on the 2nd place Panthers.
