
The Lane Titans Men's Basketball team opened up Southern Region play with a 101-82 win over Clark Saturday evening.
The Titans entered the game undefeated against NWAC competition on the season, while the Penguins entered with a respectable 8-4 record.
Both teams looked to start off conference play with an early win to establish themselves as playoff contenders.
The Titans offense continued to shine early, as they jumped out to an early 20-5 lead and never looked back.
The lead grew to as much as 22 in the first half, but the Penguins continued to battle to trim the lead to 13.
The Titans, however, answered again and took a 53-34 lead into halftime.
Ben Thornbrue continued his dominant play, pouring in 19 points and 7 rebounds in the first half.
His frontcourt partner, Silas Wright, also owned the first half with 12 points and 8 rebounds.
The Titans kept their foot on the gas throughout the second half, never letting the Penguins back in the game.
Clark's defense had no answer for the Titans athleticism inside, as both Thornbrue and Wright finished with double-doubles.
The Titans eventually left with a 101-82 win, and sit at 1-0 in the Southern Region.
Lawson Vella also finished in double figures with 12 points and 6 assists.
Noah Salmon contributed a perfect shooting night off the bench, scoring 11 points on 4-4 shooting and 3-3 from deep.
The Titans will look to carry momentum into next week with a Wednesday road game against Linn-Benton.
