Titans let a 5-run lead slip away in their first conference loss in game one of a double-header at Linn-Benton 8-5.
How it happened: The Titans opened the scoring in the 2nd with a run from Matt Dallas who scored on a wild pitch after reaching base on an error.
Then in the 3rd, Hayden Curtis drove in Curran Mitzel with a single to make it 2-0 Titans. Matt Dallas would follow with an RBI-single that scored Henry Lovekamp and made it 3-0. Then with two on, Logan Zozaya hit a two-run double to score Jack Swisher and Hayden Curtis and built the Titans lead to five, 5-0.
Trestyn Dumilieu would give up a RBI-single in the bottom half of the inning, but the Titans maintained a 5-1 advantage after three.
Then came the bottom of the 4th when the Roadrunners scored six of their eight runs. It started with a two-run single, then a pair of RBI-singles, a bases loaded walk to give the Roadrunners their first lead 6-5 and their sixth and final run of the inning came on a sacrifice fly.
Jesse Carr came in relief to end the 4th. Carr would not be able to keep the Roadrunners off the board in the 5th as his error allowed an earned run to score and what would be the final run in the Titans 8-5 loss.
Austin Skelhorn finished the game with 3.2 innings of shutout baseball.
What/who stood out: The loss broke an eight-game winning streak that lasted almost a month…the five runs scored made six-of-seven games with five plus…nine strikeouts makes 16 straight games with single-digit strikeouts after double-digits in four of the offenses first five games…three stolen bases makes three straight double-digit games and fifth of the season…eight runs allowed is the first time allowing five or more since their loss at Bellevue when they conceded six runs…four errors ties a season-high dating to their 6-5 win on March 16 at Bellevue…two pass balls is the first in seven games.
