Lane baseball wins eight straight

SALEM  Lane swept an NWAC baseball doubleheader with Chemeketa on Wednesday, winning 5-4 and 1-0, increasing its winning streak to [eight games.]

In the first game, Lane broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning as Logan Zozoya's double brought home Matt Dallas. The Titans (12-8, 6-0 NWAC) followed that with another run in the seventh as Takanori Shimizu scored on an error.

Shimizu went 2-for-4 in the first game with a home run. Henry Lovekamp also went 2-for-3 with a home run. Trenton Hough got the win in relief as he pitched three hitless innings.

In Game 2, Matt Dallas pitched a complete game shutout as he struck out nine batters over seven innings. Lovekamp doubled in Shimizu in the fourth inning for the game's lone run.
