Lane Wins Women’s Track & Field Title with 7 Event Wins on Tuesday

GRESHAM, Ore. – The Lane women's track and field team used a dominant day two to claim their third straight title on Tuesday at the NWAC Track and Field Championships at Mt. Hood Community College.

The Titans were especially impressive on the track on day two with seven event victories. Lane won the 4x100 meter relay to start the day, and concluded it with a victory in the 4x400 meter relay. Jazmine Liebl took first place in the 1,500 meters in 4:48.87 and also placed second in the 800 meters.

Isabel Tapley took down the 100-meter hurdles by .04, crossing the finish line in 14.88 seconds. Sara McKen took first place in both sprints, winning the 100 meters in 12.41 seconds, followed by the 200 meters in 25.9 seconds.

Finally, after winning the 10K on Monday, Saundra Parsons also won the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:03.71. Lane took four of the top five spots in the race with Cammeo Ramirez placing second, Cydney Sanchez taking fourth and Brinna Weiseth placing fifth.

Spokane took second place overall with 227 points, followed by Southwestern Oregon and Clark in a tie for third with 111 points.

SW Oregon's Skotlyn Hill was named both the women's High Point Scorer of the Meet and Women's Track Athlete of the Meet after totaling 48 points. Hill came into the week already with 10 points after winning the heptathlon earlier in May. She also added wins on Tuesday in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.3 and the triple jump with a mark of 10.61 meters. Hill additionally placed second in the 100-meter hurdles, fourth in the high jump and sixth in the long jump.

Olympic's Pono Fuiava was named the Women's Field Athlete of the Meet after her performances in the throws. Already winning the shot put on Monday. Fuiava added a win in the discus throw on Tuesday with a top mark of 43.55 meters. The win makes her back-to-back champion in the event, winning in 2022.

Clackamas' Jamie Jacobs was a winner in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.76 meters. Umpqua's Rachel Noyce won the high jump with a height of 1.63 meters.

Clark had a pair of champions on the track as Brianna Morrell took home the 400-meter title with a time of 59.28 seconds, winning by just .04. Right after, Jasmine Bates won the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.46 for the Penguins.
