Titans Rolls to 8th Straight NWAC Men’s Track & Field Championship

GRESHAM, Ore. – The Lane men's track and field team claimed an impressive ninth-straight championship on Tuesday at the NWAC Track and Field Championships at Mt. Hood Community College.

The Titans finished with 242 team points, using their dominance in the track events to overcome Spokane on day two. The Sasquatch finished with 175 points, followed by Green River with 71, Umpqua with 70.5 and Clackamas with 70.

Lane's victories all came on the track on day two with wins in both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. Dylan Murray won both the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles to win both titles back-to-back seasons. Landyn Dupper won the final event for the Titans, taking home the 100-meter dash title. Dupper was on both relay teams and finished in second place in the 200 meters to earn Men's Track Athlete of the Meet.

The Titans put up points in nearly all track events as Josiah Lee and Dublin Gingerich finished second and third in the 1,500 meters. The Titans had four of the top five finishers in the 110-meter hurdles and three of the top four in the 400 hurdles. They also had three of the top five in the 5,000 meters with Chad Hughes taking second.

Spokane's Jaxson Nichols was the high point scorer and Men's Field Athlete of the Meet. Nichols previously won the men's decathlon earlier in May, adding a win in the men's high jump on Tuesday with a height of 7'0.25". He also earned points in the triple jump, long jump and javelin throw.

Umpqua's Colby Neron took first in the javelin throw with a top distance of 66.97 meters. The Riverhawks had three of the top four placers with Ismayil Abdoulaye taking second and Isaac Heard placing fourth.

Mt. Hood's Oliver Reis won the men's triple jump with a best mark of 14.44 meters. Clackamas' Donaven Humphries earned the shot put gold on his last attempt, hitting 15.22 meters.

The men's running events had a few photo finishes, beginning with Green River's Noah Sanchez in the 1,500 meters, winning by .01 over Lane's Josiah Lee. Later in the 200-meter dash, Spokane's Dalton Wild won an even closer race with a time of 22.061, just .002 ahead of Dupper.

Treasure Valley's Osman Osman won the 400-meter run with a time of 48.42 seconds, also placing third in the 200. Green River's Ryan Perkins snagged first place in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.07. Spokane's Luke Hurd finished the day with a win in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:22.14.
