The Lane Community College men's soccer team defeated region rival Portland CC by a score of 2-0 to remain unbeaten in the south region and in 1 st place. The match was another gritty performance by the host Titans who prevailed despite the eight cautions shared by both teams including an ejection of freshmen defender Dan Latinovic's in the 75 th minute after receiving his second yellow card. Sai Bliss-King's goal in the 56 th minute was a curling right footed strike from the right side of the box that left the Portland goalkeeper stunned. The momentum from this goal would give the team the energy required to finish the contest and earn the full three points. Yuki Yamaguchi's scored from a penalty kick in the 78 th minute to seal the victory. The goal marked his 4th score in four region games. "We won, which feels great. I still think our best soccer is in front of us. We have the ability to possess the ball for longer sequences and control games. Luckily we defend well as a team and have a lot of sophomore experience to help us weather these storms. The Rogue match this upcoming Saturday will be interesting and should challenge the depth that we have on the roster. Our main thing heading into the next match will be to take care of our scoring chances and be more clinical in the attacking third of the field. We allow teams to hang around and stay in games and if we want to be a top team we need to take control and keep control earlier." -Head Coach Max Sampson Local youth soccer players and families are encouraged to come watch the Lane Titans. The Titans will host Rogue this Saturday 9/21/22. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00PM. Admission is free. Full schedule is at Lanetitans.com
