GRESHAM, Ore. – The Lane men's and women's track and field teams add significantly onto their day one leads as both teams won the 2022 NWAC Track and Field Championships on Tuesday at Mt. Hood Community College.

The Lane women's team finished with 288 team points, followed by Umpqua in second with 109 and Olympic in third with 82. The men's team was nearly as dominant with 267 points, with Spokane taking second with 146 and Clackamas third with 76.

Bill Steyer of Lane was named the men's coach of the year, while Alan King was the women's coach of the year for the Riverhawks second place performance.

Southwestern Oregon's Skotlyn Hill was the women's top point scorer of the meet, along with the women's most outstanding track athlete of the meet, scoring 47 points for the Lakers. Hill took first in the heptathlon, 100 and 400-meter hurdles, along with second in the high jump and 400-meter dash.

Spokane's Bradley Fillis was the men's top point scorer of the meet with 30 points as he won all three of his throwing events including the discus, shot put and hammer throw.

Lane's Cameron Andrews was named the men's most outstanding track athlete of the meet. Andrews won the 200 meters in 21.18 seconds and finished second in the 100-meter dash while leading Lane to a victory in the 4x100-meter relay.

Umpqua's Leonie Samuels was named the women's most outstanding field athlete of the meet, as she scored 18 points for the Riverhawks. She placed first in the shot put, third in the discus and seventh in the hammer throw.

Also for Umpqua, Zach Holland was selected the men's most outstanding field athlete of the meet. Holland had the crowd's attention throughout the men's javelin throw, as he hit 80.61 meters on his first throw of the day.
