Thomas' career-high 28 leads No. 1 Titans past Trojans

Mya India Thomas ties a career-high in points and four Titans score in double-figures in a 77-50 victory over the Everett Trojans.

How it happened: The Titans dominated the 1st quarter, scoring the first 16 points of the game and 22 of 25. Mya India Thomas had 10 points and two steals on 4-5 shooting. The Titans shot 58.3 percent and made four threes and four free throws. They held Everett to 25 percent shooting.

Kylie Guelsdorf and Megan Still each picked up their second foul in the 2nd quarter and only played eight combined minutes as the Titans won the quarter by only one. Everett scored the first five points to start, but a couple of threes stretched the lead back out. Mya India Thomas had four points and two rebounds, and the Titans shot above 50 percent again, 53.8 percent, but the Trojans improved to 46.2 percent and got nine points from Hannah Hezekiah.

The Trojans scored first but the Titans responded with the next seven and controlled the 3rd quarter. The Titans outscored the Trojans by nine, but only shot 33.3 percent; but only two turnovers, seven offensive rebounds and 5-6 from the line made up for their shooting struggles. The Trojans shot 30.8 percent and had seven fouls and five turnovers. Kalina Rojas had eight points and two steals off the bench.

The Titans execution defensively was poor in the 4th quarter; they committed nine fouls which led to 12 free throw attempts. The Titans shot 46.7 percent and made three threes and four free throws. Mya India Thomas had 12 of the 21 Titan points and all three of their threes.

What/who stood out: The Titans committed 20 fouls and shot three fewer free throws, but they only had 14 turnovers and grabbed 18 offensive rebounds. After not reaching double-digit made threes in the past four games, the Titans made 10 of 25.

Mya India Thomas tied her career-high with 28 points and she had five of the 10 Titan threes. Thomas added six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Kalina Rojas had 14 points two rebounds and two steals off the bench; giving her, her first back-to-back double-figure scoring games after a career-high 21 against Columbia Basin.

What it means: The no.1 Titans move to 8-1 and have won four in-a-row since the Lower Columbia loss, all four wins away from Titan Coliseum.
