XC | Lane women runners take second, men fourth in Salem

SALEM — The Lane women clustered five scorers within the top 30 to place second in the "Gold" division at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational cross country meet at Willamette University on Saturday.

The Titans, whose 67 teams points were second only to Eastern Oregon's 52, were led by freshmen Jazmin Chavez, who finished seventh in the 5,000-meter race in 19 minutes, 1.5 seconds, and Isabella Kansala, who was 10th in 19:18.6.

Northwest Christian finished third with 108 points and was led by senior Anika Rasubala's fourth-place finish in 18:22.1.

For the men, Lane was led by freshman Daniel Beckstead, who ran the 8,000-meter race in 25:22.9 to help lead the Titans to a fourth-place team finish with 123 points. Spokane won with 48 points.

The Northwest Christian men finished seventh with 207 points and were led by Jacob Truitt's 19th-place finish in 25:43.5.
