2019 NWAC Track & Field Coaches Of The Year

Gresham, Ore. - Bill Steyer was named the 2019 NWAC Women's Track and Field Coach of the Year. Steyer helped to lead both the women's and the men's teams to team titles at the NWAC Track and Field Championships. It was the men's program seventh consecutive team title and the women's first since 2014. 

Steyer also serves as the head men's and women's cross country coach. Steyer led the men to the NWAC team title for his second consecutive season and third consecutive overall for the program and the women to a second place finish in 2018. Steyer also coach the 2018 NWAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year in Andy Muha.

During the 2019 track and field season, Steyer had seven female athletes post new top-10 marks across five different events: 3000-meter steeplechase: Alexis Crowl (1st) and Claire Ebert (2nd)...400-meter hurdles: Isabella Garcia (7th)...Shot Put: Paris Newdall (10th)...Hammer: Kate Borsz (5th)...Pole Vault: Emily Thomason (1st) and Delaney Fields (4th). 

Steyer also coached two athletes in three events to new men's top-10 marks: Javelin; Sawyer Christopher (2nd)…Long jump: Jonah Tactay (5th)…Triple jump: Jonah Tactay (5th).
