Eugene, Ore. – Cody Mathis, a 6-9 freshman forward from San Diego, Cali., has signed to play basketball at Utah Valley University, an NCAA Division-1 basketball school.

During Mathis' freshman season he averaged 12.7 PPG, 8.8 RPG and 1.8 BPG in only 27.1 MPG. His conference numbers were even better, improving to 13.4 PPG and 10.1 RPG in 29.9 MPG. He was one of only eight players to average a double-double during conference play.

Mathis' 1.8 BPG were second most in the NWAC…8.8 RPG tied for eleventh…10.1 RPG during conference play were seventh best…67.3 percent shooting was second best.

Mathis' career-high in points were 24 at SWOCC on Jan. 3…career-high of 15 rebounds (twice) most recently at Umpqua on Jan. 30…career-high of six blocks vs Willamette J.V…career-high of three steals vs Clark on Feb. 11.

Mathis is now the third Titan to sign at a DI school in the last year, Cool at Idaho State (2019) and Kylor Kelley at Oregon State (2018).
