Titans unlucky in 2-0 loss vs LBCC

Henry Lovekamp, baseball
Henry Lovekamp went 2-of-4 with a 2B and two RBI's in the Titans come-from-behind win at Clark, 6-4.

The Titans hit the ball hard and got a eight one earned run innings from Riley Howard but were unable to score and lost 2-0 at home vs Linn-Benton.

How it happened: It was a struggle to begin the game for Riley Howard; he walked the lead-off hitter and conceded a single in the top of the 1st. After a wild pitch and a ground out there were runners on second and third with one out. Riley Howard got a strike out but he threw a wild pitch that allowed everyone to advance and the first run of the game to score.

The Titans hit a couple of balls hard including a double by Jack Swisher and two batters later Jaxon Woodhouse lined out to right field to end the 4th.

In the top-of-the 7th a runner scored from third with two outs on a throwing error by catcher Matt Dallas who attempted to pick off the runner, but the ball hit the bat of the hitter and deflected into foul territory. The two umpires came together to talk about batters interference, but after a conversation the call stood and the Roadrunners led 2-0.

Down 2-0 going into the bottom-of-the 8th, Curran Mitzel singled and to stay with the Titans bad luck, Takanori Shimizu lined out to the left fielder who dove to stop a would be double or triple. After a walk to Henry Lovekamp and a pop-up to second base, Matt Dallas singled to right with two outs, but Curran Mitzel was held at third and Henry Lovekamp rounded second base hard thinking the runner would try to score and he would be able to advance a base, but instead he got caught and was thrown out trying to get back to second which ended the inning.

In their final opportunity, Jack Swisher walked and Skyler Vail lined a ball to first base who caught it and touched one first for the double-play. A flyout later and the game was over, 2-0.
