Lane baseball opens conference play with sweep

OREGON CITY — Lane scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat Clackamas 5-4 in the first game of a Northwest Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader sweep Saturday.

Matt Dallas stroked a run-scoring single to bring the Titans (8-8, 2-0 NWAC South) within a run at 4-3 and two batters later Skyler Vail belted a two-run single that plated the game-tying and game-winning runs. Lane finished with 12 hits in the conference opener.

Titans starter Trestyn Dumilieu allowed seven hits and three runs in five innings, striking out five.

Lane won the second game 11-7. The Titans play Clackamas in their home opener Sunday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
