XC | Men 2nd and Women 5th

Monmouth, Ore. - The Titan men and women finish second and fifth at the Ash Creek Meet at Western Oregon University to open the 2019 cross country season.

Men: The Titans had an average time of 19:19, second to only DI Oregon and ahead of 13 other schools, including 10 four-year schools.  

Freshman Daniel Beckstead was the Titans top finisher in 16th place with a 18:54.1 time. Freshman Tanner Sayers was the Titans second top finisher placing 19th with a time of 19:09. Sophomore Casey Pugh finished 23rd with a 19:21.8 time. Freshman Carter Kunert was right behind Pugh in 24th place with a 19:29.9 time.

Other finishers were sophomore Grayson Mazziotti (31st, 19:44.5), freshman Tristan Robinson (33rd, 19:49.4), sophomore Anthony Stone (40th, 19:58.7), Ryle Hollick (43rd, 20:15.1) and freshman Joel Yasin (65th, 20:53.6).

Women: The Titan women finished fifth behind four, four-year schools with an average time of 16:29. They finished ahead of seven schools, including six four-year schools.

Freshman Jazmin Chavez was the Titans top finisher at 14th with a time of 15:47.8. Fellow freshman Isabella Kansala was two places below Chavez in 16th place with a 16:09.2 time. Sophomore Daelyn Wilde was the third Titan in the top-30 in 27th place with a time of 16:29.1.

Other finishers for the Titans were freshman Madeline Woodward (36th, 16:48.5), sophomore Alexis Crowl (51st, 17:11.4), sophomore Claire Ebert (52nd, 17:12), sophomore Annie Taylor (77th, 18:26.9) and sophomore Laisha Alvarez (92nd, 19:46.6).

What's next: The Titans are back in Monmouth at Western Oregon University for the Sundower Invitational on Sep. 20.
