Lane men third, women fourth at Saint Martin’s meet

LACEY, Wash. — Lane freshman Shane Henderson captured sixth place to help the Titan men finish third Saturday at the Ken Garland Classic cross country meet at Saint Martin's University.

Henderson covered the 8,000-meter course in 26 minutes, 29.7 seconds and was the only non-Western Washington runner in the top eight. The Vikings, an NCAA Division II school, sailed to the team title among 11 schools with 15 points followed by junior college power Southern Idaho (61), Lane (77) and Northwest Athletic Association rival Spokane (95).

Jesse Todd finished 16th for the Titans, Andy Muha was 18th and Anthony Stone 22nd.

Claire Ebert was the top runner for Lane in the women's 5,000, she finished 22nd (19:55.9) to help the Titan women to fourth place. Western Washington won the women's title with 21 points, followed by Southern Idaho (69), Spokane (87) and Lane (130).
