The Titans battled through bad 1^st and 3^rd quarters to win the 2^nd and 4^th quarters in road victory at Chemeketa, 68-64.

How it happened: The Titans were down by six 2:06 into the 1^st quarter. The Titans closed the gap but Chemeketa maintained and extended the lead to as many as 10 with 1:17 remaining. A 5-0 Titan run to close the quarter made it 23-18, Chemeketa.

The Titans shot 47.1 percent in the quarter, but 20 percent from three and 25 percent from the line. Mya India Thomas had eight points. The Titans allowed the Storm to shoot 58.8 percent and 75 percent from three.

The Titans scored the first nine points of the 2^nd quarter and led by four 3:34 into the 2^nd. An 11-0 Titan run to end the quarter gave them a 13-point halftime lead, 40-27.

The Titans shooting was the same at 47.6 percent and their 3-point shooting only improved to 28.6 percent, but it was their defense that got them their lead; Chemeketa shot 12.5 percent, was 0-5 from three and had five turnovers. Megan Fossen had two points, four rebounds and two steals; Maddy Carrier had four points, a rebounds, an assist and a steal off the bench in three minutes.

The Storm began and almost ended the 3^rd on a 17-0 run that spanned the first 7:15. The Titans didn't score until Megan Briggs made a layup with 2:29 remaining. A Megan Fossen three with 26 seconds remaining gave the Titans the lead heading to the 4^th after being up by 13 to begin the quarter and down four only a couple minutes prior.

The Titans shooting dropped off considerably, dropping to 21.4 percent from the floor and 12.5 percent from three (1-8). They also had five turnovers and no free throw attempts. Chemeketa didn't shoot light out either, 40 percent, but 3-3 from three and 4-5 from the line made up for it. Megan Briggs had three points, two rebounds and two blocks off the bench.

The Titans scored the first six points of the 4^th quarter and led by seven less than a minute into the quarter. Chemeketa came back to take the lead, 62-61, with 2:27 remaining, but a 7-0 run to the 14 second mark sealed the win, 68-64.

The Titans shooting rebounded to 50 percent and they made three threes and all four of their free throws (all of which came in the final minute). Megan Fossen had eight points. Chemeketa had a chance, shooting 41.7 percent, but 6-12 from the line ended their opportunity for a win.

What/who stood out: The Titans failed to reach the 70-point mark for the first time in 22 games…42.4 percent shooting from the floor is the second straight sub 45 percent game after only doing it one time in the previous six games…seven made threes is six straight games with fewer than 10 after a streak of four straight…five free throw makes and eight free throw attempts are season-lows and they are the third time in four games with fewer than 10 made and second time in three games with fewer than 10 attempted.

Kylie Guelsdorf had a solid 13 points, seven assists and four rebounds in 37 minutes after fouling out in 10 at Umpqua…Megan Still had 11 points and four steals…Megan Fossen had 13 points, nine rebounds and two steals…the bench had 16 of their 41 rebounds (39 percent) and six of their 17 assists (35.3 percent) in only 57 of the minutes played (28.5 percent).

What it means: With fellow 1^st place Umpqua idle, the Titans are alone in 1^st at 8-1 and are now 20-2 overall.
