The Titans got double-figure scoring from five players and they stole away a win at Clark, 102-68, thanks to 19 steals.
How it happened: The 1st quarter was back and fourth between the Titans and the penguins; with the Penguins leading by one with 1:43 remaining in the quarter. Megan Still and Mya India Thomas combined for five points in the final 1:15 to give the Titans a 25-21 lead after one.
The Titans shot a red-hot 62.5 percent from the floor, but seven turnovers and 56.3 percent shooting allowed gave the Penguins opportunities to stay in the game.
Meagan Briggs came off the bench and had seven points; Mya India Thomas had eight points; Megan Still did a little of everything with three points, four rebounds and two steals.
The 2nd quarter began the way the 1st did, both teams trading baskets and the Penguins gaining an early lead, 30-29, with 7:53 remaining.
The Penguins would have their final lead of the game evaporate when Megan Still made a three with 6:01 remaining. The Titans closed the quarter on a 23-5 run and led 55-39 at half.
After giving up some early baskets, the Titans defense settled in and held the Penguins to 43.8 percent shooting and forced seven turnovers.
The Titans offense continued to be locked in with 30 points on 57.1 percent shooting, 4-8 from three and only three turnovers.
Meagan Briggs added six more points off the bench; Megan Still led with eight points; Megan Fossen had six points and four of the Titans nine rebounds.
The Titans opened the 3rd quarter on a 10-1 run in the first two minutes. They would extend their lead to 22 points with 3:54 remaining after a Kylie Guelsdorf three. The Titans largest lead, 28 points, came after a Kalina Rojas jumper with 1:23 to go in the quarter, 79-51.
The Titans shot 55.6 percent and six players scored. The Titans defense stifled the Penguins, allowing only 27.8 percent shooting and forcing seven turnovers.
The Penguins opened the 4th quarter with a 5-2 run in the first 2:04, but the Titans responded with a 17-5 run over the next five minutes to seal the win.
The Titans scored 23 4th quarter points, 11 of them came from the bench and seven turnovers were the only thing slowing down the offense as they shot 64.3 percent with almost half of the minutes played by the bench.
What/who stood out: The Titans had 19 steals, their second most against an NWAC opponent since the season opener against Treasure Valley when they had 20; their 22 turnovers broke a streak of seven straight games with fewer than 20; their 14 fouls gives the Titans their fourth straight game with fewer than 20; their 102 points is the third time reaching the century mark as the Titans are second in the NWAC in scoring at 85.1 ppg.
Meagan Briggs scored a career-high 19 points on 7-14 shooting; Megan Fossen had her third double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds and seven assists; Megan Still had 21 points and she added six rebounds and a career-high seven steals.
What it means: The Titans start 2-0 in the south and are 14-1 overall. With most teams having played two games, the Titans are tied with three other teams for 1st place.
