Megan Fossen tied a career-high with 21 points and the Titans rolled past Tacoma, 90-44.
How it happened: The Titans forced a Tacoma timeout with 5:27 remaining in the 1st quarter leading 16-4. Tacoma cut the 12-point deficit to seven after a 5-0 run to close the quarter.
Megan Still had five points and four rebounds; Megan Fossen had five points and three rebounds; Kalina Rojas added four points off the bench and the Titans shot 40 percent and allowed Tacoma to shoot 41.7 percent.
Tacoma opened the 2nd quarter with the first two points, but the Titans would score the next eight and led 26-13. Tacoma would find some footing offensively in the mid part of the quarter, but the Titans closed on a 9-0 run and led at half, 42-20.
Megan Fossen dominated the quarter with 10 points, three rebounds and two assists; Aolani Talamaivao-Calderon had four points, a rebound and a steal; Kalina Rojas had three points, three rebounds and an assist off the bench; Meagan Briggs had three points, two rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block off the bench, too.
The Titans only shot 42.9 percent but held Tacoma to 25 percent shooting and forced seven turnovers.
Megan Fossen opened the 3rd quarter with two threes and the Titans led by 27, 48-21. The quarter was dominated at the line by the Titans; attempting 12 free throws. Megan Still made two threes in the final minute of the 3rd to give the Titans a 41-point lead heading to the 4th, 71-30.
Kylie Guelsdorf had all six of her points at the line (6-6) and added two rebounds and two assists. Mya India Thomas had six points on 1-4 shooting, but 4-4 mark at the strip made up for the shooting struggles. Megan Fossen added another six points to her total and Megan Still led the way with nine points thanks to 3-5 mark from three; Still added two rebounds, an assist and a steal.
The Titans 12-12 mark from the line masked another poor shooting quarter, 35.3 percent overall and 35.7 percent from three (5-12). The Titans shooting struggles were also helped by their defense, holding Tacoma to 20 percent shooting.
The 4th quarter was played mainly by the bench; 14 of the 19 points came from bench players. The Titans took a timeout after a Tacoma basket with 8:19 remaining in the game up 78-36. The Bench would close out the game with the final 12 points, a 10-4 run and a 90-44 victory.
The Titans struggled from three, 2-10, but shot a game-high 47.1 percent from the floor. Seven Titans scored in the 4th and the Titans only had three turnovers and one foul. The Titans defense was not quite as good, allowing 40 percent shooting, but they forced six more turnovers and were plus seven on the glass.
What/who stood out: The Titans shot 41.2 percent; their lowest since a 40.4 percent performance in a six-point victory over Wenatchee Valley and a 38.4 percent shooting performance in their lone loss the game prior at Lower Columbia.
Their 11 made threes is tied for the second most; as was their 21 made free throws and their second fewest turnovers, 12. The Titans have now committed fewer than 20 turnovers in six straight games; they committed 33 and 20 in wins to open the Pierce Holiday Invite against Wenatchee Valley and Walla Walla in the games before the streak.
After only committing 15 fouls, the Titans now have had fewer than 20 fouls in five of the last seven games.
