The No. 1 Titans took down No. 3 Columbia Basin for the second time in a week to finish the CBC crossover with a 76-62 victory.
How it happened: Like they have done most of this season, the Titans dominated the 1st quarter. They started on a 15-4 run and led by 18 after 10 minutes, 27-9.
Mya India Thomas had 10 points on 4-5 shooting; Kylie Guelsdorf returned to the floor and had six points, three assists, two rebounds and a steal; the Titans shot 68.8 percent and only committed three turnovers and three fouls.
The Hawks only shot 17.6 percent and 14.3 from three.
The Titans got two free throws to open the 2nd and were up by 20, but the Hawks made a run to cut it to 14, 33-19.
With 3:17 remaining the Titans regained a 20-point lead and took a 43-22 lead into half.
Mya India Thomas had six points; Kalina Rojas had two points and four rebounds off the bench; the Titans shot 42.9 percent and held Columbia Basin to 33.3 percent.
The 3rd quarter started slowly for both sides; only six points apiece through four minutes.
Meagan Briggs made two free throws with seven seconds remaining and slowed what was an 8-1 Hawk run.
The Titans committed seven fouls and turned the ball over four times, but a 5-10 mark from the free throw line for Columbia basin and holding the Hawks to 43.8 percent shooting kept the quarter from completely going in the Hawks favor.
The Titans didn't play great in the 4th quarter but were able to maintain a double-digit lead until the 1:18 mark when the Hawks cut the lead to eight, 67-59.
The Titans finished the game on a 9-3 run thanks to a 5-6 mark from the line from Megan Fossen.
The Titans used 8-12 free throws attempts to make up for 28.6 percent shooting.
What/who stood out: The Titans have had 17 or fewer turnovers for the fourth straight game and held their opponent under 70 points for the sixth consecutive game after conceding 76 to Lower Columbia in their lone loss.
The Titans gave up 22 offensive rebounds but won the second chance points battle.
Mya India Thomas had 21 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals earning what should have been tournament MVP honors if CBC had given them out.
Megan Fossen recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Kylie Guelsdorf's return to the court ended with 10 points, six assists, four rebounds, and two steals.
What it means: The No. 1 Titans move to 10-1 and finish off their second win in one week over No. 3 CBC. They're 6-1 away from Titan Coliseum.
What's next: The Titans play at the Chemeketa Holiday Classic in Salem on Dec. 28 against Pierce and Tacoma the following day.
