Women's basketball opens against TVCC in the Titan Classic

The Titans women's basketball team starts their 2018-19 season off with the Titan Classic vs Treasure Valley on Friday November 16 at 8 p.m.

The Titans return six players, five of which played last season. Megan Still and Meagan Briggs are the top two returning scorers. Still averaged 7.3 and Briggs 6.4. Briggs will not play during the tournament because she will be playing in the NWAC volleyball tournament in Tacoma with the Titans. Emma Jones is the Titans top returning rebounder, she averaged 4.8 rpg last season. Jones contributed 1.6 spg, .5 bpg and a top returning averaging 2.7 apg. Other returning players, Khadija Smith and Kelly O'Malley, average 4 and 1.9 ppg off the bench. The final returning player is Amanda Tobey. Tobey redshirted last year. During her freshman season in 2016-17, she averaged 2 ppg, 2 rbg and .5 bpg in less than 8 mpg, but will add great size at 6-2.

The Titans finished in 2nd place in the South at 14-2 and 23-7 overall. They lost in the Elite Eight to eventual champions Walla Walla. The Titans were 2nd in the NWAC in scoring at 85.9 ppg and 15th in points allowed at 66 per game.

For the Treasure Valley Chukars, they return four players from last season; Tara Chamberlain, Meagan hunter, Hadee Reynolds and Paige Vorwaller. Vorwaller led the Chukars in scoring last season at 12.8 ppg, she also averaged 5 rpg, 1 apg and 1 spg. Vorwaller was efficient from three, shooting 36%. Chamberlain is the second leading returning scorer at 7.4 ppg and 4 rpg. Reynolds chipped in 4.3 ppg and Hunter 2.3 ppg.

The Chukars narrowly missed the playoffs by one game at 8-8 and 13-14 overall. They were 13th in the NWAC in scoring at 68.9 ppg and 26th in points allowed, giving up 71.2 ppg.
