The Titans never made it easy in their 89-82 overtime win at Chemeketa.

How it happened: The Titans built a 11-point lead 6:20 into the 1st half and maintained it until the 12:50 mark; from that point until the 9:54 mark the Storm went on a 12-0 run and led 22-21. The Titans tied the game and were within one point with 4:32 remaining, but were down by six points at half, 39-33.

The Titans shot a poor 35.1 percent and an even worse 15.4 percent (2-13) from three. Rodney Hounshell had 10 points and all 33 points came from the starters. Chemeketa shot 30.8 percent and outrebounded the Titans by nine.

The Storm led by eight to begin the 2nd half after a layup, but an 8-2 run over the next 2:53 brought the Titans with in two points, 43-41. The Storm quickly responded and extend the lead to seven only 51 seconds later. A 13-0 Titan run to the 12:06 mark gave them the lead, 54-50. The lead was six after a Lezjon Bonds three with 7:34 remaining. A Cody Mathis layup made it an eight-point game with 3:04 reamining, but an 8-1 Storm run to the 19 second mark tied the game at 72 and forced OT.

The Titans shooting improved to 45.2 percent and 55.6 percent from three. Lezjon Bonds had 11 points off the bench. The Storm only shot 35.7 percent from the floor and 21.4 percent from three (3-14), but they made 10-11 free throws.

In OT the game was tied at 78 with 1:24 remaining and the Titans finished on a 11-4 run to seal the road win, 89-82.

Lezjon Bonds had 11 of the Titans 17 points in OT and the Titans made 5-6 shots and 6-7 free throws.

What/who stood out: The Titans' 89 points gives them 80 plus points in eight of their last nine games…eight turnovers is the sixth time in eight games with fewer than 10 committed…0 blocks is the first in 19 games with no blocks…18 fouls is now three straight games with fewer than 20 committed after six straight 20 plus foul games and 11 of 12 games with 20 plus…43.2 percent shooting is the third straight game under 45 percent; they had only one such game in the previous 12 NWAC games (the one game was their loss vs Chemeketa)…eight made threes is the second straight game with fewer than 10 made; they made 10 plus in four straight and six of seven prior to the last two games.

Tarik Cool appears to be hitting either a rough patch shooting and/or is fatigued as he managed only six points on 3-18 shooting and 0-6 from three in 44 minutes; he has scored fewer than 20 point in the last two games after only doing so once in the previous 13 NWAC games and has shot below 45 percent in five of the last six games…Cody Mathis recorded his third straight and seventh overall double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds…Lucas Wilson had 21 points, 13 rebounds and four assists for his second straight and fifth overall double-double…Lezjon Bonds had 20 points off the bench after two straight sub-10-point games.

What it means: With 1st place Umpqua idle and their win over then 2nd place Chemeketa, the Titans are in 2nd place at 7-2 and are ½ game back of Umpqua; they're 18-3 overall.

What's next: They host last place SWOCC (6-15, 1-8) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
