The Titans had to overcome serious foul trouble in the 2nd half to get by Linn-Benton on the road.
How it happened: The 1st half was competitive from the start and it wasn't until under seven minutes to go that the Titans started to pull away; the game was tied at 22 with 6:56 remaining but the Titans quickly went on a 8-0 run. The Roadrunners cut into the lead, but it stayed at eight at the end of the half.
Tashon Brown had 12 points; Lucas Wilson only had three points but grabbed nine rebounds; Tarik Cool had 11 points; and Lezjon Bonds had 11 points off the bench. The Titans shot 52.9 percent. The Titans one weakness was fouls, 12 of them led to 16 free throw attempts for the Roadrunners. Also, five players had two fouls.
Tarik Cool made a three and Cody Mathis finished a layup to extend the lead to 13 in the first 90 seconds of the 2nd half. The next six minutes would see the Roadrunners go on a 22-9 run and tie the game at 63. Then at the 10:33 mark the Roadrunners took the lead, 67-66. The Titans got a three from Tarik Cool and a Lucas Wilson layup with 7:23 remaining to take a two-possession lead, 77-71.
Lucas Wilson converted two straight and-ones to extend the lead to double-digits, 86-76, with 5:29 remaining. The lead was cut to four with 2:26 remaining but the Titans pulled out the game despite two players fouling out in the 2nd half.
Tarik Cool woke up from a cold shooting 1st half to score 17 points; Lucas Wilson had 10 points late in the half, but also committed four fouls.
What/who stood out: The Titans shot 50 percent for the third straight game…third straight double-digit made threes…25 fouls make 11 of 12 NWAC games with 20 or more fouls…after two games with 20 plus assists, the Titans dropped to 12.
Lucas Wilson had 13 points and 10 rebounds for his third double-double…Lezjon Bonds had 20 points, his first 20-point game since he had 23 vs Everett.
What it means: The Titans are now tied for 1st, after an Umpqua loss, with two other teams at 5-1. They're 16-2 overall.
What's next: The Titans host Robert Ford led, 5th place Clackamas (13-5, 3-3) during Jam the Gym this Saturday at 4 p.m.
