Sawyer Christopher, Track and Field

Sawyer Christopher

Sawyer Christopher is a freshman from Lincoln High School in Portland, Ore. Christopher was the eight best javelin thrower in school history coming into the NWAC Championships with a 62.71m/205’-09” throw at the Southern Region Championships.

Prior to both Southern and NWAC championships Christopher competed and placed third in the decathlon in Spokane, Wash. at the NWAC Multi-Event Championships.

At the NWAC Track and Field Championships at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Ore., Christopher became the second-best javelin thrower in school history with a winning throw of 67.26m/220’-08” and was named Men’s Field Outstanding Athlete of the Meet. That throw trails only Cyrus Hostetler’s throw of 73.63m/241’-07” in 2008. Hostetler is a two-time Olympian (2012 and 2016), so Christopher is in good company.
